thinking time

So anyway, my Dad passed away last Thursday.  He had just turned 88 and after a couple of bouts of pneumonia, the doctors discovered lung cancer.  He was admitted to hospital and within a couple of days he was gone, it turned out his left lung was completely collapsed, his liver and kidney’s were slowing down.

But what really happened though was Dad decided it was time to go and be with Mum, his wife of 60 years.  I was privileged to be with Dad for his last day here, holding his hand and  watch him lie in peace for the last few hours of his life, and finally witness the two rattly breaths just as he departed.

You did your best Dad, and it was pretty good.  Thanks for everything.

Love you and give my love to Mum.

So to my most loyal handful of readers, I will be back to blogging in a week or so, as soon as my thoughts are collected.

I’m so sorry for your loss but it’s good that you were able to spend some time with your Dad before he passed on to be with your mum. 88 is a good long life and now he’s at rest again.

Love and good wishes to you.

I’m so sorry to hear of your loss. Expected or not, “a good innings” or not, it is always a huge blow to lose a parent. Best wishes, Gen.

Genny – I’ve been busy/away so just caught up – sorry to hear about your Dad – was so quick – but happy to see you got a ‘good-bye’ in. Lots of love going out to you and hope time is being a gentle healer for you. x jaz
